Well, looking 'round the internet on TMS Entertainment's English site, I found a Magic Kaito page which means... Magic Kaito is possibly available for future licensing in the future and a new logo has unveiled.

So, question in hand -- Can/Will FUNimation license it?!?!
Tell me what ya think and who you think will voice characters if it is licensed Very Happy

I sure hope that Funimation, or at least somebody, would be able to license the show. That would be great! Maybe they would get Jerry Jewell to voice Kaito again.

As much as I would like to see this happen, I doubt it, because FUNimation was not very optimistic about Detective Conan and most of the Magic Kaito episodes were aired during Detective Conan, using pretty much every opening that Detective Conan also used.

If they did though, I would not be one of the only ones who knows the name of KID's true identity.

Actually I could see them dubbing Magic Kaito. It's only around 12 episodes or so right? It wouldn't hurt, in fact they might do it to test the waters and see if the fanbase for Case Closed related media is still there.

They might be holding off on season 6 because they don't know if the fan base is still there and willing to support it. Dubbing an entire season and it going bad is one thing, but a 12 episode spin-off might not be as risky to Funi.

If Magic Kaito does get dubbed by Funi this could be big for Case Closed. cheers

I do see it as a possibility though, not definite and could even be more likely than Season 6

Although it's probably unlikely, I agree that a Magic Kaito dub would be much more likely than getting a season 6 dub. Not only are there less episodes to dub, the animation in Magic Kaito is also a lot prettier and modern looking, which might appeal to more people who might not give season 6 a chance because of the dated animation. Although, personally, the dated animation doesn't bother me as it's the stories and characters I like and the animation has a charm of it's own. In all honesty, I would like both dubbed.

That may be, but from the episodes I have seen, the Magic Kaito episodes are really just more Detective Conan episodes, otherwise it would not be sharing the same opening theme as Detective Conan and Kudo would not be making a cameo in every episode.

Also, there is a possibility that there will be more than the 12 or so out now, depending on how much of the four Magic Kaito manga volumes, unless it is no longer on hiatus, have been adapted and if there will be as much filler as Detective Conan.

As for being Detective Conan-related, there is not much relation between the two. Yes, locations. mostly later on, and characters from Magic Kaito, like Fuller, Aoko, and Kaito Kuroba, do show up in Detective Conan and then we have the clock incident with Kudo and Kaito Kuroba, but that is about it.

Of course, I am not too sure how well the Magic Kaito series will do here, because Detective Conan is the first and only, as far as I know, work from Gosho Aoyama in the US, but it probably will not do any good if it was marketed as being related to Detective Conan.

It would be nice, it may also give them a reason to release more Case Closed.
