Subject: Detective Conan - 20th Anniversary (Anime/Movie) Sun Nov 01, 2015 7:24 pm
This thread will be covering any updates and news regarding the 20th Anniversary Bullets and the Movie specifically.
The bullets, or "surprises" are issued in Shonen Sunday. There are 13 of them so far. It is unlikely that the 14th surprise will be out next week seeing as how there is a break for DC in the next SS issue.
Surprise 1/20:
The magazine is also revealing the first three parts of the project. The first part is a TV anime special. The "one hour two-part special" will feature guest star Ichikawa Ebizō XI, a famed kabuki actor. The special will feature Conan and Ebizō competing in a "detective recital contest." Ebizō will play himself in the special. The "Detective Conan TV Anime Special Conan to Ebizō: Kabuki Jū-hachi ban Mystery" (Detective Conan TV Anime Special Conan and Ebizo: Kabuki #18 Mystery) special will air in two parts on January 9 and January 16. Source: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-11-03/detective-conan-anime-reveals-20-part-20th-anniversary-project/.94879
Furthermore, it seems that both parts are 1 hour each. (Source: http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/2061754/full/) - The special will be running from 5:30-6:30 on both days, 6-6:30 being Conan's typical time-slot.
Surprise 2/20:
People in Osaka will soon have the opportunity to put the sleuthing skills to the test.
"Shinsaibashi Chocolate Murder Case" real-escape game event by SCRAP featuring the long-running mystery anime Detective Conan will be held at the Ajito Obusu SCRAP in Shinsaibashi Opa shopping station starting on December 12.
The game is split into three different categories; questioning, crime scene investigation and escape. Utilizing the same investigative skills as the titular detective Shinichi Kudo/Conan Edogawa (and to a lesser extent private detective Kogoro Mori), participants will start at the questioning portion at the beginning of the event, but must make their way through all three categories in order to get to the bottom of this mysterious case.
The event will last through January 31, 2016. Admission tickets cost 1,000 yen (US$8.34) and six people can participate at once. Each one lasts 30 minutes with multiple shows each day. Various theme souvenirs will soon be announced as well.
This collaboration began as a yearly event back in 2013. The series inspired a treasure hunt in western Tottori last year. The "Real Escape Game x Detective Conan: Escape From a Skyscraper" event was held in 2013, but much of the fun was overshadowed when one of the props was mistaken for a real bomb by local police.
The third part is the announcement of the 20th anime film that will open in spring 2016. The official website for the anime film series will stream a promotional video starting on November 4 at 10:00 a.m. (November 3 at 8:00 p.m. EST). The film will have a limited amount of "black visual leaflets" available in TOHO theaters in Japan starting on November 7, and the leaflets will reveal a secret about the film. The first 2016 issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday will reveal the film's subtitle and an illustrated poster when it goes on sale on December 12.
Series of 12 DVD+guidebook collection which go on sale on 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, with the first two (Conan and Ran) on 23 March. Bottom of page announces release of 3 volumes (vol 88, Conan vs BO part 2, Disappearance) on 18 Dec. Remastered episodes will be included on the DVDs too.
Surprise 5/20:
Detective Conan Pop-Up Stores Dec 18 - Dec 29 First shop to open in Hiroshima (12/18) Website for shop in Sogo Hiroshima: https://www.sogo-seibu.jp/hiroshima/kakutensublist/?article_seq=161628 The shop will feature limited time only merchandise, like extra large plush toys, a purse, movie posters, several other kinds of merchandise geared towards the 20th anniversary and even a cheesecake!?
Surprise 6/20:
Movie 20 hand-drawn color pencil poster from Gosho Aoyama is revealed, and the title is revealed.
Detective Conan: Pitch Black Nightmare Japanese Title: 名探偵コナン 純黒の悪夢ナイトメア (Meitantei Conan: Junkoku no Naitomea)
Surprise 7/20:
Translation by presumenothing
Mysterious assassinations are happening worldwide!! Is it related to a spy in the police department!? In the 20th top secret clip to be released next weekend, there are assassinations worldwide, and a scene of a spy who has infiltrated the Japan police accessing classified data!! In the contents of the classified data... Amuro Tooru, who is rushing to stop it from being taken...! And Akai Shuuichi of the FBI!! The members of the BO are starting to move out in secret!! Danger like never before draws near to Conan!!
Further synopsis from the movie website, unrelated to these surprises:
The story begins:
On a dark night, the Japanese police is raided by a spy. Different countries' intelligence agencies—such as England's MI6, Germany's BDN, and America's CIA—as well as the FBI's secret files are going to be taken, but public safety officers lead by Tooru Amuro arrive just in time. The spy steals a car and escapes. The spy and Amuro are then locked in a dead heat on the highway, and just as it is about to cause an accident with multiple cars, the spy's car is hit by FBI agent Shuichi Akai's rifle bullet and falls of the roadway.
The next day, Conan and his friends go to a newly-remodeled aquarium in Tokyo. Under the main attraction, a Ferris wheel, Conan finds an attractive woman alone and injured. Her left and right eyes are different colors.
But the woman is in a state of amnesia where she doesn't even remember her own name, and the cellphone she's carrying is broken. Conan and his friends promise to help her regain her memory, so they stay with her.
Throughout all this, Vermouth is watching behind the scenes. Afterwards, she pulls out a silencer and speaks into an attached intercom, "It's as planned, Gin."
The movie will open on April 16 in Japan. It will feature members of the story's Black Organization that have previously appeared in the series: Gin, Vodka, Vermouth, Chianti, Korn, Kir, and Bourbon. The website also hints at the appearance of Rum, who has never been shown in the series.
It seems that there will be a collaboration between Detective Conan and the Smart-phone game, ""Quiz RPG: The World of Mystic Wiz". (or Quiz RPG: Wiz and Black Cat) coming on December 16th.
It is a fantasy RPG where you journey through battles using cards and answering quizzes.
It seems the game will feature characters like Conan, Kogoro, Ran, Haibara, the Detective Boys, Megure, Agasa, Masumi, Subaru Others like Akai, Yusaku, Yukiko, Heiji, Miwako, Takagi, Gin, Shinichi, and Kaitou Kid appear on the website as a silhouette, maybe meaning they are unlockable characters?
(I doubt that the Conan material will crossover into the English release, so just make a note of that)
Surprise 10/20:
Episode 804, part 1 of the 2 hour special will feature a new ending and opening song. The opening will be "Hane" by Koshi Inaba, known primarily for being the vocals of hard-rock band B'z. The ending will be a cover of OP4, Zard's Unmei no Roulette Mawashite by La PomPon.
Surprise 11/20:
Translation by presumenothing: Announcement of the official app to be released in February, which will allow reading of purchased manga and novels – for a limited time only, the manga can be read for free starting with chapter 1! The app will also include anime episodes, latest news, sale of popular merchandise, as well as quizzes and other games.

I really like what they're doing here. I was hoping they would do something big for the 20th anniversary.

It's definitely good marketing and a great way to get people hyped up for sure. So far nothing out of the ordinary though, since the things listed so far have been repeated yearly, and the special doesn't really seem to be a "special". Still 17 surprises left though, maybe they're saving the best for last...
Looking forward to what's in store for DC next year for sure!

Well, last year was Case Closed's 10th anniversary =P, but I suppose it's not popular enough, sadly. Not sure when VIZ got the first volume of the manga.
Their thought process is probably "we can't be so ambitious because it might not turn a profit". Japan can literally do anything with the series and it will sell

Even though it's a bunch of stills of the characters, I'm pumped for this movie! But after that huge tease letdown in the 13th movie got to be careful.

Yep. I'm being weary of all the topic of discussion surrounding Rum for sure.
Rum's eyes?:
Maybe we saw the eyes.... but the more likely option is that they are just hyping us up even further. There's no way the trailer would reveal something so significant, and after how we saw a prosthetic in MK1412, I'm not sure this is an accurate portrayal. As someone on the cbox mentioned, they look like a Yugioh villain's eyes
From the way the website and everything is set up though, it does seem like Rum will be making an appearance in the movie, something more than a silhouette that is... but I'm not holding my breath either.

Surprises 04/20 and 05/20: Our temporary decipherment, waiting for an official translation (may not be 100% accurate): 04/20: Detective Conan DVD Collector's Series: a total of 12 DVD featuring 12 different characters as a theme (The first one is dedicated to Conan, the second to Ran and so on) 05/20: Detective Conan Pop-Up Stores Dec 18 - Dec 29 First shop to open in Hiroshima (12/18) Pictures source: @My_way丿Mai_way丿Teppei
Images from the current issue of Shonen Sunday (File 940) Surprises 4 and 5:
There's also this which seems to be related to the 20th Anniversary.
Translation by Detective Conan - The Red Thread (Facebook fanpage)
Our temporary decipherment, waiting for an official translation (may not be 100% accurate): Announcement of what looks like a marathon of Detective Conan Episodes (1 to 66) for apparently 40 hours of continuous broadcast to celebrate the Anime's 20th Anniversary. (Dec 30, 9:30 - Jan 1, 1:30)
that sounds cool, I wish we could get all this stuff too.
For sure, though it's not as if we don't have options to purchase the merchandise in Japan, but it can be a royal pain in the ass to obtain some of it, not to mention expensive. Though this is all pretty typical stuff over there. I don't think any of the surprises so far have been particularly "surprising" or "new", but they are certainly going to market it as such.
Who knows, maybe we'll have more access to some legal content in the states pretty soon. After all, we did get the Lupin movies...
Guarantee the next issue of Shonen Sunday we'll get two or three more surprises. One of them will probably be the movie poster, the other will be the title reveal and the announcement of a new trailer. That's just my guess though. The movie 20 poster will be revealed regardless, just not sure whether it's going to be one of the 20 surprises or not.

Text spoilers from 2ch (Some Google translate / Unofficial translations) Accuracy will be confirmed on Wednesday, once the file has been serialized in Shonen Sunday.
Movie title is apparently 純黒の悪夢 (じゅんこくのナイトメア) - Pure Black of Nightmare
6/20 Surprise Movie 20 hand-drawn color pencil poster from Gosho Aoyama is revealed, and the title is revealed (see above)
7/20 Surprise Secret video announcement? Probably a trailer will be revealed or updated on the movie website on December 2nd. General synopsis and preview: It seems that sensitive information is in danger of being released? Kir and Amuro's names appearing on this list, so I guess the plot will be somewhat similar to the Raven Chaser. (We also had the assumption from the teaser trailer at the end of Movie 19, with Gin saying Kir, Bourbon, Don't tell me?)

Another big update!
Website changed and it is confirmed that a trailer will be coming on December 12th when the website updates again (if it's just like last time, it'll be late at night for us on December 11th)
The website also features the Movie 20 poster, and the title was officially revealed. Detective Conan: Pure Black Nightmare (Alternately Dark Nightmare or Pitch Black Nightmare) Japanese Title: 名探偵コナン 純黒の悪夢ナイトメア (Meitantei Conan: Junkoku no Naitomea)
Movie poster (HQ):
Anyways... Here's the translated text from the website, courtesy of Anime News Network:

New 20th anniversary surprise announced. 11 left to go!
Surprise 9/20:
Synopsis and wiki suggests she's involved in some way with the Black Organization. Other than that, we just know she is a mysterious woman with amnesia and heterochromatic eyes... She's the featured guest character, so she'll probably be rather important to the plot of the movie.
The movie is introducing 3 spies who have infiltrated the organization. Riesling, Stout, and Aquavit. Aquavit should be a man, and Riesling should be a woman. I think Stout should also be a women? Not sure on that one (just following the pattern for alcoholic code-names). Could be a double agent of some kind.
We should hopefully see her when the next trailer is released (should be this month or next)
