| I've always wanted to ask something. What I don't understand about what Funimation has been doing was this: they repackaged what they had about 3 times. No one will buy what they already own unless they are die-hard fans that want to pour money into the series. That's no way to make money. Haibara/Anita/Vi comes along just a few episodes after the dubbing stopped. Why can't Funimation release only non-filler episodes, starting there?
Even if they were to release just a couple subbed, I would definitely buy them! And subbing is loads cheaper than dubbing, so turning a profit wouldn't be that difficult with so many deperate fans. And if that does work well enough and Funimation wants to turn them out faster, they could buy the wonderfully-made subtitles from the Detective Conan Translation Project, who faithfully made quality subs until about the 600s. That wouldn't cost a ton since DCTP has no other possible use for them since they don't stream anymore.
An unrelated question: How legal is fandubbing Detective Conan if Funimation still has the rights to it?

| Good questions, I'm not sure why Funimation just keep repackaging the dub. It doesn't make any sense, that is part of the reason why the show "failed" here in the first place. Sadly, I don't really have any answers for your questions, but I would like to welcome you to this forum, It's nice to see new people. | |

| I know this response might be a little late but I think part of it is that TMS charges a particularly high amount of money for the rights of the episodes because of how successful Detective Conan is in Japan and FUNimation may not be able to pick and choose what episodes they get, they may have to buy the episodes in chunks or something like that. | |

| That sounds like that could be the reason, but I'm not sure. I still don't see why they don't just sup the next "chunk" of episodes, it would make their money back and then some. Also, if that happened, they would see that the demand is strong and they might dub them later. | |

| Maybe funimation is trying to get Magic Kaito as well now since there was a recent series on it. Yet again that series was done by A1 pictures not TMS. | |

They could also buy it if there was new content or things were fixed up, but from my own experience reviewing the episodes FUNimation dubbed, it is unlikely that that will ever occur. The big problem with releasing only canon content though is that it is very hard to find, even when you use sites like DCW. One has to literally go through all the manga volumes ever released around the world. I can definitely assure you that I have not read all of the chapters of Detective Conan, so even I do not know all of the cases that are important in the series.

| Yeah that is a huge issue to get over. I hope that my panels of explaining the series will help both newcomers and veterans alike. | |
